Governor Ducey announced this week that he is enhancing surveillance to track the impact of COVID19 and influenza on healthcare moving forward. Hospitals in Arizona will now have to report daily statistics on staff resources and ICU availability to strengthen the ability for the Arizona Department of Health Services to respond to COVID19 during influenza season. With flu season approaching, I wanted to emphasize the importance of continuing safe social distancing practices and spread awareness.

Over the last three weeks, healthcare facilities in Maricopa County have administered an average of 50k-60k COVID tests weekly and are still holding steady. While testing rates have been consistent over the last three weeks, we’ve seen a dramatic decrease in positive COVID cases during the same time frame. July’s positivity rate was reported at 10% whereas this week’s positivity rate was reported at 5%, a -5% difference. As an organization we are continuing to see a downward trend in positive cases as well and are pleased to announce our 8th week without a positive.

COVID19 Activity update for the week of 9/04-9/11:

We have not had any positive employee cases reported this week.

  • As an organization, we have had 19 reported and confirmed positive cases of COVID19.
